The Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card has some notable cardmember benefits that may appeal to frequent or occasional travelers, such as a statement credit as reimbursement for the TSA PreCheck application fee. Read on to learn about this benefit, how to get it and other travel perks available to Sapphire Preferred cardmembers.
The TSA PreCheck fee credit
A reimbursement for TSA PreCheck’s application fee is available to Sapphire Preferred cardmembers. When cardmembers use their Sapphire Preferred card to pay for the application fee associated with TSA PreCheck, they’ll receive a statement credit for those fees. This benefit can be used every 4 years.
Application fees are due at the time you apply for this Trusted Traveler Program (TTP), but paying the fee does not guarantee approval into the program. If approved, TSA PreCheck status is good for 5 years.
This benefit can also be applied to the application fees associated with Global Entry or NEXUS, but not all three. It can only be applied to one application fee every 4 years.
Keep in mind that the Sapphire Preferred card has an annual fee.
TSA PreCheck benefits
TSA PreCheck provides access to expedited security screening lanes at the airport, which is a perk that may appeal to frequent or even occasional travelers. Travelers can typically keep on their shoes, light jackets and belts during screening. Additionally, they may keep electronics and compliant liquids in their bags. Overall, TSA PreCheck is designed to help speed up the security process and create a calmer screening experience.
