Between taxes, work, parking tickets and laundry that never seems to end, being an adult is hard. But planning a glorious getaway from the hubbub where you can actually relax and put your feet up shouldn’t be. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of fantastic trips that are an easy jump—specifically, a nonstop flight no more than five-and-a-half hours from the New York metro area. In no time at all, you’ll be touching down in a dream destination with a spate of top-tier hotels, spas and restaurants at your fingertips. It certainly doesn’t hurt that these holiday havens—from Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo to Jackson Hole, Wyoming—also make a pretty great backdrop for some keepsake (OK, social media) photos.

    Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica

Villas at Four Seasons Resort Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica, seem to hang over the cliffside.

Peninsula Papagayo, a 1,400-acre gated community in the Guanacaste province, one of Chase Travel’s 25 trips to take in 2025, boasts 11 miles of beautiful, tranquil beaches ideal for lying out and then cooling down in the water. It’s also home to a clutch of superior resorts, including Four Seasons Resort Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica, which has an adults-only pool, mixology classes and a knockout spa (a leg-focused lymphatic massage after a flight sounds just right). Nature lovers will appreciate the ability to spy howler monkeys on a golf cart tour or while walking the paved pathways wrapped around the ocean-view golf course. Plus, it’s less than an hour from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR), also known as Liberia Guanacaste Airport, which cuts down on car time and gets the unwinding started that much sooner.

    Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Though known for its top-tier skiing, Jackson Hole is a year-round destination.

Jackson Hole is a beloved ski spot. Outside peak season, in-the-know travelers flock to this rugged yet accessible part of Wyoming for fresh air, stunning mountain scenery and outdoor activities (including more relaxed pastimes such as bird-watching). Proximity to both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park makes it easy to get your nature fix. It’s worth taking a break from the great outdoors to shop for cowboy boots and browse the art galleries in downtown Jackson. While you’re there, stop by Town Square to pose for a photo in front of the famous antler arch before sitting down for a beer (or two) at one of the local breweries. The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole is the perfect base camp with a spa and an excellent slopeside restaurant (because after a big day, you may not want to leave the property for dinner).

    Palm Beach, Florida

The Colony Hotel’s retro-chic pool is the place to see and be seen in Palm Beach.

Thanks to year-round sunshine that doesn’t require a passport or a long-haul flight, Palm Beach is a great place to steal away for a solo weekend filled with beach days, high-end shopping, fine dining and people-watching. It’s also a fun place to dress the part and get into the stylish swing of things. Pack a printed shirt or pick one up at a Worth Avenue boutique, and you’ll have a festive fit to wear for sunset cocktails and dinner or bingo night at The Colony Hotel. Discretion-seeking clientele (ahem, celebrities) frequent the umbrella-ringed pool and Café Boulud Palm Beach at The Brazilian Court Hotel. If you’d rather skip the scene and just post up at a plush resort, check in to The Breakers Palm Beach.

    Puerto Rico

If your R&R leans deeper into invigorating activities than lounging around, you’ll love Puerto Rico—and exploring its El Yunque National Forest.

With 700 miles of coastline, thick knots of rainforests, perpetually solid swimsuit weather and tons of direct flights from the contiguous United States, Puerto Rico is a quick and easy getaway anytime of year. Despite being such a popular destination, it still has plenty of less-crowded corners if you venture outside of the capital, San Juan. For relaxation and relief from the tourist areas, seek out the lesser-known beaches of Playa El Combate, a peaceful spot that’s part of the Boquerón State Forest in Cabo Rojo. There’s also Cayo Icacos, an uninhabited cay with turquoise water and white sand tucked away off the eastern coast of the island. To see even more unspoiled natural beauty, head to El Yunque National Forest for lush, leafy hikes and cooling off in the natural pools. For relaxation and relief from the tourist scene, post up at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, where you can get a fabulous massage at the spa and catch some rays by the pool.

    Scottsdale, Arizona

Take advantage of Scottsdale’s temperate evenings at Onyx Bar & Lounge, one of a handful of venues at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North.

Jonesing for a dose of vitamin D, but want to switch things up from balmy beach destinations and torrid tropics? Jet off to arid Scottsdale. The desert city just 15 minutes northeast of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) offers a lot to travelers looking to chill out. It’s sunny, rife with cacti-studded walking paths and has a stellar food scene with regional Sonoran cuisine as well as authentic Mexican dishes (and some unexpectedly excellent pizza). Arguably the biggest draw for TLC seekers is a stay at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North: After your sound therapy, peptide-powered facial and customized massage, kick back in front of your private casita’s terrace fireplace.

    Mandarina, Mexico

One&Only Mandarina’s Treehouse Villas let you feel like you’re sleeping in the treetops.

Mexico is no stranger to upscale resort communities. The newest luxury enclave to splash out on the Pacific coast? Mandarina. Because it’s not yet as well-known as its Riviera Nayarit contemporaries like Punta Mita, it’s far less crowded and primed for relaxation. The stunning development is home to One&Only Mandarina—which features intimate clifftop villas with private plunge pools and panoramic terraces, a signature spa for healing rituals and Tata Harper facials, recreational activities and gourmet dining (chef Enrique Olvera’s creative twists on traditional Mexican flavors at Carao are a highlight). You’ll also find an exclusive beach club, an equestrian and polo club, and a Greg Norman–designed golf course, if you’re game to hit the links.

    Beverly Hills, California

Retire in style at The Peninsula Beverly Hills.

Beverly Hills is defined by its lavish lifestyle, which extends to vacationers visiting the upscale city. The celeb-favored enclave has plenty of cosmopolitan charms—from top-rated restaurants for long, leisurely meals to designer shopping on Rodeo Drive—plus iconic palm-lined streets. Visitors can also indulge in the A-list treatment at luxe hotels such as The Maybourne Beverly Hills and The Peninsula Beverly Hills, where restorative massages, luxurious suites and white-glove service are all on the menu. And if you prefer to decompress with more outdoorsy activities, hiking trails and sun-dappled Pacific beaches are just a short drive away. (Pro tip: Rent a convertible and cruise down the coast for the quintessential SoCal experience.)

    Bermuda

Just off the coast of South Carolina, Bermuda is a prime island escape for time-strapped travelers.

While Bermuda is a quick nonstop flight from many cities on the East Coast, the British territory feels vastly different (read: much more laid-back) than its closest neighbors. Once travelers touch down in the North Atlantic island paradise, it’s all about blissing out on the pink-sand beaches, most notably Horseshoe Bay; making a splash with water-based activities like snorkeling, sailing and stand-up paddleboarding; and leaning in to the breezy vibe. In between bathing suit and bathrobe time at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, consider carving out a few hours to visit the Royal Naval Dockyard and scope out the colorful sights in Hamilton. Golden hour calls for a Rum Swizzle, a favorite Bermudan drink, at one of the local bars.
