      Stay Here For

A rustic-chic getaway steeped in sheer stillness—just the place for a good book, a glass of cava and complete silence.

Mallorca may have acquired a recent reputation as a party isle, but venture inland from the coast, through ocher and emerald farmland, and you’ll wind up a world away from the boisterous revelers. At Finca Serena, a resort in the hamlet of Montuïri, deep in the heart of Mallorca, the loudest thing you’ll hear is the cicadas.

Time stands still here, but what time, exactly, is another question. A winding driveway lined with jacaranda and cypress trees leads you to the main house, a timeworn finca, or ranch, dating back centuries. But across the property, a quiet trickle of modern amenities (strong Wi-Fi, dreamy bath products) and hospitality (turndown service) thrusts you back into the present.

The estate’s history is thoughtfully preserved, from the spa housed in an erstwhile cowshed to the boutique tucked next to reception, where chic Spanish outfits and honey from a sister hotel’s apiary are displayed next to the original brick oven.

The 25-room resort is at the heart of a sprawling estate teeming with palm, lemon and orange trees, though it’s the vineyards and olive groves that take up most of the expanse. This is the kind of place travelers visit to stay put, whiling away days on a well-trodden circuit from Jacaranda, the resort’s seasonally focused restaurant, to the pool and back again, with the odd foray into the olive groves, morning yoga or picnic in the vineyards to change things up.

You can of course go farther afield—Palma is close by, and popular beaches like Alcúdia in the north and Torrent de Cala Pi in the south are each a mere 40 minutes away. But why would you leave this magical place a moment sooner than you need to?

How to Make the Most of Your Cardmember Benefits

Finca Serena Mallorca is a member of The Edit by Chase Travel℠, a collection of hand-picked hotels with premium benefits for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers. Cardmembers who book through The Edit will receive special benefits including daily breakfast and a $100 property credit, along with early check-in, late checkout and a room upgrade, when available. Check out how these benefits came to life during our stay at Finca Serena Mallorca:

      The Essentials

      The Location

Palma, with its massive Gothic Roman Catholic cathedral, is only a 30-minute drive west of the property.

You’re close to the villages of Montuïri and Pina, but if you want a Michelin-starred meal or a dose of history, head to lively Palma, half an hour away. If you aspire to explore beyond the finca, it’s best to rent a car.

      The Bars and Restaurants

Your restaurant selection is limited but excellent. Farm-to-table Jacaranda is an all-day affair: At breakfast, graze the buffet table, where ensaïmadas and jamón ibérico are laid out alongside fresh seasonal fruit and green olives. Then head back outside to the terrace to order avocado toast and xeixa wheat crêpes with chocolate off the à la carte menu.

Jacaranda has a special theme a few times a week, from barbecue to paella night, where chefs whip up vegetarian, seafood and chicken versions on the terrace as a musician performs.

      The Room

The property’s Serena Suites, in the main farmhouse, have cozy living rooms, bright and breezy sleeping areas and sweeping views over the Pla de Mallorca.

Whether you’re staying in the original farmhouse or one of the weathered stone cottages, you’ll step inside and find a sanctum of contemporary calm, with slanted beam ceilings, artfully cracked concrete floors and linen curtains. Local touches abound: baskets woven from palm leaves, handmade ceramics, a minibar stocked with Mallorcan almonds and wine. Accommodations range from rooms in the main house with views over Jacaranda’s terraces to stand-alone structures with patios ringed with lemon trees for privacy. For the ultimate seclusion, consider the nearly 1,200-square-foot Villa Serena, which comes with butler service and its own private pool.

      The Standout Feature

Panoramic vistas abound—you’d be hard-pressed to find a corner of the property that doesn’t offer a dreamy view.

The swimming pool, with its shock of hot-pink bougainvillea and sweeping view of the surrounding countryside and the Puig de Randa mountain looming nearby, is the beating heart of the resort.

      The Time to Go

With its fiery sunshine and beautiful beaches, Mallorca in the summer is definitely a draw, but it’s beautiful year-round—and much quieter when the crowds ebb. If you want to bypass the masses but still make the most of that stunning pool, May and September are great options.

      The Vibe

The nearly 2,700-square-foot Único Spa is a relaxation paradise.

The perfect spot for your photo op: On the steps leading down from Jacaranda’s terrace, pause with the bougainvillea, pool and countryside unfolding behind you. It’s the kind of vantage point that will force anyone to promptly stop scrolling (and gently stalk the geotag).

The souvenir from the gift shop you’re bringing home: Finca Serena’s own olive oil, which is poured generously over salads, zucchini pasta, avocado toast and more at Jacaranda. It adds the most vivifying jolt to every dish it graces—fill your luggage with as many bottles as you can fit.

The design detail you won’t stop coveting: Rooms are equipped with LED Uma lanterns with leather straps from the brand Pablo that double as Bluetooth speakers, so you can explore the grounds on a late-night stroll with an appropriately lilting soundtrack to accompany you.

Hiking trails weave through the finca’s endless vineyards and olive groves.
