If you’ve met the criteria listed below, at your one-year anniversary, we’ll evaluate your account for an automatic card upgrade to Freedom Unlimited® – no extra steps. If you qualify, you’ll receive a new card with more rewards.

Keep in mind: Only first-time Freedom Unlimited cardmembers are considered; customers who currently have or previously had the card are not eligible.
Here’s what we consider when we evaluate your account for an automatic card upgrade from Freedom Rise® to Freedom Unlimited
- Your account is open
- You’ve made at least one purchase with your card in the past 12 months
- You’ve made your minimum payments on time and you don’t have any accounts with Chase or other lenders that are in default

We sent you a new card as part of an automatic upgrade because of your good financial habits. Your account was open, you made at least one purchase, and made all your payments on time with us and other lenders. It’s not a mistake or fraud—your account is safe.
Your new card is ready to use as soon as it arrives, with no activation needed.
Please use your new card. Your old card can be used through expiration, but we recommend you destroy it and use your new card.
Your new card should work right away. If you have trouble, please call us at the number on the back of your card.
Use your new Freedom Unlimited card with the new expiration date.
Yes, your account was upgraded automatically because of your good financial habits. Your new Freedom Unlimited card has more rewards and benefits.
Freedom Unlimited gives you more cashback: 5% on travel booked through Chase Travel℠, 3% on dining and drugstores, and 1.5% on all purchases. There are no new fees, just better rewards.
Your credit score and credit limit won’t change as a result of this upgrade and there’s no new credit check for this automatic upgrade.
