Roadside Assistance with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card
Roadside Assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as a benefit of the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. When experiencing car troubles, cardmembers can call cardmember services to help arrange assistance and transport for a variety of car-related issues.
There is no membership or pre-enrollment required for this benefit. However, the Sapphire Reserve card does have an annual fee, and Roadside Assistance is subject to limitations.
Roadside assistance events are covered for cardmembers up to $50 for each event and up to four events every year.
Roadside assistance is offered by Chase, with vehicle support services carried out by local, independent contractors. This service is only available in the U.S. and Canada.
What’s covered with Sapphire Reserve Roadside Assistance
Roadside Assistance covers a variety of car issues, including the following service events:
Towing
If your car breaks down, Chase cardmember services can arrange to transport your vehicle to the nearest repair facility or location of your choice.
Tire change
Roadside Assistance also covered tire-related issues. Cardmembers are required to have a properly inflated spare tire in their vehicle. Vehicles without a spare tire can be towed.
Battery assistance
If your vehicle doesn’t start due to the vehicle battery being out of charge, Roadside Assistance can help jump start the vehicle, tow electric vehicles to the nearest charging station or tow all other vehicles to the nearest qualified service facility.
Lockout service
If you’re locked out of your car, you can call Roadside Assistance. Note that this service does not include replacing lost keys.
Fuel delivery
If you run out of gas, up to 2 gallons of fuel can be delivered to you.
Standard winching
Winching can be an especially helpful service if your car is stuck. It may need to be pulled out due to snow, mud or steep inclines. If your vehicle is within 100 feet of a paved road or highway, standard winching assistance is available through Roadside Assistance.
How Roadside Assistance works
If you’re in need of assistance, you can call 1-800-350-1697 to access Roadside Assistance through your Sapphire Reserve card. When you call, you will likely be asked your location and details of the problem with your vehicle.
The Chase benefits administrator then arranges for assistance with a local service provider. Weather conditions, the time of day and availability of providers may affect how quickly you receive assistance. During the call, the person dispatching Roadside Assistance may provide an expected estimated time of arrival based on the type of service required and your location.
At the time of service, you will need to sign the provider’s service acknowledgement even if no payment is required. You may be responsible for excess charges (if any) incurred by the service provider.
Exclusions for Roadside Assistance with Chase Sapphire Reserve
There are exceptions to Roadside Assistance, some of which include:
- Vehicle size and weight: Roadside Assistance is reserved for vehicles that weigh 10,000 pounds or less. This is typically any vehicle that can be classified as Light Duty.
- Off-road locations: Roadside Assistance may not be available in areas not regularly traveled or in “off-road” areas not accessible by ordinary towing vehicles.
- Trailers and campers: This service may not extend to capacity trailers over one ton, campers or vehicles-in-tow.
- Rental cars: If you experience car trouble with a rental vehicle, the rental agency may have their own required procedures for roadside assistance. You may want to check with your rental company before using this cardmember benefit.
- Repeated issues: Cardmembers can receive assistance for one service incident of the same type within a 7-day period. But if you have the same issue twice in one week, the second time may not be covered.
