     Airport parking at Indianapolis

IND offers the following short and long-term parking options:

    • Terminal Garage: Located on your left as you approach the airport, this covered garage is connected to the terminal via a temperature-controlled Pedestrian Bridge. Charged by the half hour or at a daily rate.
    • Park & Walk Lot: Situated just before the entrance to the Terminal Garage, this lot is around a 10-minute walk to the terminal along a lighted path. No shuttle service is provided. You’ll be charged a flat daily rate, which must be paid via credit card.
    • Economy Lot: This budget-friendly lot charges a daily rate and is serviced by a shuttle every 5 to 7 minutes, with a total travel time of about 15 minutes to the terminal. Note that some exits only accept credit cards.
    • Valet: Located closest to the pedestrian walkway, valet parking may be a good option for travelers in a hurry or those who prefer minimal walking. Follow signs to Level 3 of the Terminal Garage. Both hourly and daily rates available.

Visit the IND Parking webpage for real-time parking availability and shuttle tracking. There’s also information about the parking rewards program and locations of electric vehicle charging stations.

    Security at IND

IND features two checkpoints—Checkpoint A and Checkpoint B—located at the entrance to each concourse on the upper level of the terminal. All gates are accessible from either checkpoint. Both checkpoints remain open through the last departing flight of the day, but travelers may check the IND website for current opening times.

TSA wait times at IND are typically 15 minutes or less, though they may be longer during peak travel periods such as early mornings, holidays and summer vacation months. Airport officials recommend arriving 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international flights. Travelers may want to consider how long any pre-boarding tasks will take when planning their airport arrival.

Customs is located on the lower level of Concourse A, where all international travelers arrive. Customs wait times are generally between 15 to 30 minutes.

How to get through security faster

IND participates in some Trusted Traveler Programs (TTPs), including TSA Precheck® and Global Entry, which can help streamline security and passport screenings.

With TSA PreCheck membership, eligible travelers can use designated lanes at airport security checkpoints and typically don’t need to remove light jackets, shoes or belts during screenings.

At IND, members may proceed to Checkpoint A to use their TSA PreCheck benefits. Near the entrance to Concourse B, there’s an enrollment center where travelers can apply for TSA PreCheck membership. Eligible travelers may even be approved in time for their return trip, although it could take as long as 60 days to receive a decision.

Global Entry members can skip the standard customs line and use designated kiosks to scan their passport, provide fingerprints and complete a customs declaration. Members also receive TSA PreCheck benefits.

Travelers may be able to get reimbursed for their TSA PreCheck or Global Entry application fees. For example, some credit cards offer reimbursement for TTP application fees when the card is used to pay the fee.

    IND terminals

IND consists of a single terminal with two concourses: A and B. Arrivals take place on the lower level, while departures occur on the upper level. Passengers may walk between the two concourses without the need for rescreening, using the connecting hallway at Civic Plaza on the upper level of the terminal.

    In summary

IND features one terminal with two concourses (A and B). Each concourse has a checkpoint at its entrance, and all gates are accessible from either checkpoint. Passengers can move between concourses via the concourse connector hallway without undergoing security rescreening.

Some travel options to and from IND include taxi and rideshare services, IndyGo’s Route 8, hotel shuttle and on-site car rentals. Additionally, a few companies operate bus service between the airport and surrounding areas, including college towns such as Bloomington, Lafayette and Muncie.

Under normal circumstances, travelers can plan for approximately 15 minutes for security screening and up to 30 minutes for passport screening at IND. Wait times may be longer during peak travel periods. Eligible travelers who want to streamline these screenings at IND can apply for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry.
