Chase First Banking accounts do not support cash/check deposits in the branch, at ATMs or through direct deposits.
Through the Chase Mobile® app you can add money to your child's account a couple different ways:
- You can set up a one-time transfer by clicking on the "Chase First Banking" tile on your account dashboard then clicking "Transfer money."
- Create a recurring transfer from your Chase checking account to the Chase First Banking account by clicking on the Chase First Banking tile in your account dashboard, navigate to the "Earn" tab and choose "Allowance." See Earn FAQs for more information.
When you opened the Chase First Banking account, you created a username and password for your child. If you need to reset your child's username and password, use the Chase Mobile® app and click "Forgot username/password?" under the sign-in, next click "Don't know your username?" then click "Don't have a Social Security number?" and input your child's date of birth along with the Chase First Banking account number. Once we confirm the information entered is correct, follow the instructions on the screen to reset their password.
Your child can withdraw money from any Chase ATM for free or at participating non-Chase ATMs (fees from Chase and the ATM owner still apply). The daily withdrawal limit for Chase First Banking is $100. Keep in mind, they'll only be able to take money from their “Spend anywhere” and “ATM” balances.
You can receive Account Alerts for your child's banking activities, such as when they use their debit card or request money. To sign up for Chase First Banking alerts, sign in to your account via the Chase Mobile® app and navigate to the profile icon, click "Manage alerts" and select the Chase First Banking account.
In the Chase Mobile® app, transactions can be reviewed by tapping the Chase First Banking tile and choose “See all activity.” On chase.com, choose the Chase First Banking account and then “Account activity.”
Your child can request money in the Chase Mobile® app or on chase.com. They can select the dollar amount, enter where they want the money to be transferred and leave a note with what they’re requesting money for.
You can request a new PIN in the Chase Mobile® app. From the app homepage tap the Chase First Banking account, click "Account services" and then click "Manage PIN". Input your child's debit card number and click "Submit" to have a new PIN mailed to you.
Additionally, you can call 1-800-935-9935 and follow the prompts to speak with a customer service representative or schedule a meeting with a banker to have someone help reset your child's PIN.
They can access Chase First Banking by signing in to the Chase Mobile® app. You can help them sign in using the username and password you created when you opened the account. This will not give your child access to your other Chase accounts.
We'll help you reset it. Using the Chase Mobile® app, click "Forgot username/password?" under sign-in, next click "Don't know your username?" then click "Don't have a Social Security number?" and input your child's date of birth and the Chase First Banking account number. Once we confirm the information is correct, follow the instructions to reset their password.
To lock or unlock the Chase First Banking debit card using the Chase Mobile® app, go to “Account services” and choose “Lock & unlock card.” Both parents and kids can lock and unlock the card, but if a parent locks it, only they can unlock it.
You or your child can request a replacement debit card via the Chase Mobile® app. To do so, click the Chase First Banking tile in your account dashboard, tap "Account services" at the top of the screen then select "Replace a lost or damaged card.”
If you think someone used your child’s debit card without permission, call us at 1-800-935-9935 to speak with a representative for help.
Eligibility to use digital wallets like Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Samsung Pay is dependent upon the terms and conditions outlined by your child's digital wallet provider. If your child does not meet the eligibility of their digital wallet provider, you can add your child's debit card to your digital wallet to help them make purchases without their physical card.
"Place to spend" is a merchant, or broader category like "Restaurants,” that allows you to determine where your child can use their debit card and how much they can spend. You can designate a specific amount that be used for each "Place to spend," such as $10 allocated to "Restaurants" meaning your child can only use $10 at that place. Some merchants, like car rental companies or gambling establishments, are not eligible to be a "Place to spend.”
For every purchase your child makes, we check to see if there's an existing "Place to spend" and pull the money from there. If there isn't one, we'll use their "Spend anywhere" money to cover the cost.
The "Spend anywhere" category is money your child can use anywhere and makes up a portion of their available balance similar to any Chase checking account. "Spend anywhere" money can also be used to cover a purchase made at a "Place to spend" merchant or category or pull the difference if there isn't enough money to cover an ATM withdrawal so there's no guesswork for your child.
In general, if there isn't enough money in their "Places to spend" or "Spend anywhere" money categories to cover a purchase, we’ll decline the transaction. To increase your child's spending limits, transfer money from your Chase checking account to your child's spend category.
You can transfer money to your child from a different Chase checking account or move money within the Chase First Banking account. All of the “Places to spend” and savings goals will appear when you choose a source and destination for your transfer.
You can choose where and how much your child can spend by creating spend categories and setting spend limits in the Chase Mobile® app or on chase.com.
You or your child can create a savings goal to set aside money for something they want, such as a new computer. When a savings goal is created, you or your child can name it and choose the goal amount. If you don't have a specific goal in mind, you can set aside money into the "General savings" bucket. Either you or your child can transfer money into a savings goal or general savings at any time, and you can track progress in the app.
Although savings count toward the overall account balance, money in a savings goal cannot be spent unless you initiate or approve a transfer request from your child to transfer the money to their "Place to spend" buckets.
Congratulations! Your child achieved their savings goal. You have the option to transfer the money to a “Place to spend” or your child can keep saving. Then you and your child can set new goals in the Chase Mobile® app and make savings a habit.
You can assign chores with your Chase First Banking account in the Chase Mobile® app. Just create a name and description for the chore and—if you want—a reward amount for your child. Because payment for a chore is not sent automatically, you can check that the chore was completed first. Additionally, you can sign up for an alert to be notified when the chore has been completed. Sign in to your account in the Chase Mobile® app, tap your profile icon and select “Manage alerts,” then tap your child’s Chase First Banking account and “Chore completed.”
You can choose an allowance amount, where the money is coming from and how often it’s being transferred to your child’s Chase First Banking “Spend anywhere” or “General savings” balances. To set up an allowance, sign in to your account on the Chase Mobile® app and click the “Chase First Banking” tile in your account dashboard, then navigate to the “Earn” tab and click “Create an allowance.”
To schedule a one-time payment, use “Transfer money” instead.
