Stay Here For
An outside-the-box Caribbean vacation that’s more about adventure than beach time.
The Six Senses brand may stand for “out-of-the-ordinary experiences, wellness and sustainability,” but Six Senses La Sagesse Grenada is really about how luxury can coexist with locality. When you stay here, you’re at a Six Senses hotel, sure, but you’re really in Grenada.
Most Grenada hotels can be found in the capital city of Saint George’s, but Six Senses La Sagesse Grenada sits on the other side of the island, in the unassuming parish of Saint David’s. Developers had a vision for the land, which includes a natural saltwater lagoon, but also wanted to invest in the surrounding community. They cleaned up and dug out the lagoon, connecting it to the ocean so water can flow in and out, and hired exclusively from Saint David’s before looking to the rest of the island.
The staff, mostly locals, serve as great ambassadors for Grenada, directing guests to their secret spots across the island (a hiking path they cleared themselves after Hurricane Beryl; a lookout point where their family flies kites every Easter Sunday). And especially at weekend brunch, you’ll see plenty of Grenadian families dining alongside hotel guests.
Furthering the local feel is the hotel’s design, which mimics a Caribbean village. Buildings are influenced by the region’s traditional architecture (not a single one is taller than a palm tree), and the resort itself follows the natural topography of the land, creating harmony with nature. Even the walkways through the gardens are filled with indigenous plants.
While Six Senses La Sagesse Grenada is home to two beaches—La Sagesse is a crescent-shaped bay with warm, shallow water, and L’Anse Pere is beautifully rugged but not recommended for swimming—days here are about fully experiencing Grenada rather than just sunbathing on the sand. Book a hike to the Seven Sisters waterfalls in Grand Étang National Park or an e-bike tour through Saint David’s Parish, and you’ll feel like a friend is showing you around their hometown.
Or stay on-property, but seek out places like the Alchemy Bar, where you can learn about the healing benefits of local herbs and plants and blend your own spa products. You could also treat yourself to a massage at the spa, which is designed like a Caribbean fishing village, with suites hovering over the lagoon. You’ll be so relaxed, you might just forget where you are. That is, until you open your eyes.

The Essentials
The Room
There are no bad rooms at Six Senses La Sagesse—every single one has a private plunge pool, whether it’s an entry-level Garden Pool Suite or a more spacious Oceanfront Pool Villa. Neutral shades and mostly bare walls put the emphasis on the views and enhance the bright, airy feel of each space. We’re partial to the Lagoon Pool Villas, which feature a separate bedroom and equally large living space, plus a pool deck with an outdoor shower. If you’re traveling with a group, splurge on one of the Four Bedroom Cliff Retreats, which sit high on the bluff overlooking the resort.
The Bars and Restaurants
The trio of restaurants here draw inspiration from the Caribbean and South America, using herbs and vegetables grown in the on-site garden, plus meat and fish from local suppliers.
Callaloo is an all-day café serving comfort food; come for the breakfast buffet stocked with freshly baked breads and pastries. For lunch, try the poolside Panquai for wood-fired pizzas and churrasco (meats cooked on long skewers over live fire). Dinner is best at SeaFire, the resort’s signature restaurant that sits right on the beach. Expect raw bar items like spiny lobster and conch ceviche alongside grilled mahi-mahi, served family-style with local cassava, breadfruit, okra, sea moss and plantains. Save room for a midday treat at the on-site Scoop Café, which serves complimentary house-made ice cream every afternoon.
The Standout Feature
The spa is designed like a Caribbean fishing village, with suites hovering over the lagoon.
Swing by the spa to use the panoramic sauna, which features an almost floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the lagoon. For an energy reset, we’d also recommend booking the Journey to Repose treatment, which includes a foot bathing ritual, a full-body sound immersion, a hot-and-cold-stone massage, healing crystals and time on a vibroacoustic lounger.
The Location
Six Senses La Sagesse Grenada sits in the small parish of Saint David’s in the southeastern corner of the island, about 30 minutes away from the capital city (and most other hotels and restaurants). Grand Étang National Park is a 45-minute drive away, but worth it for the rewarding—if daunting—hike to the Seven Sisters waterfalls. If you must go off-property to eat, try La Sagesse Beachfront Restaurant, just a five-minute walk down the beach, where you can sample local fish and lobster, plus fruits and vegetables grown in Grenada’s tropical rainforest.
The Time to Go
Grenada has a warm, tropical climate year-round, so there’s really no bad time to visit. While the dry season (November to April) brings the perfect beach weather, the rainy season (June to November) is when Grenada’s flowers and fruits really shine. For lower rates and fewer people, avoid the festive season (mid-November through December) and August, when Spicemas—widely considered the Caribbean’s best carnival celebration—brings crowds to Saint George’s for partying and dancing to calypso beats.
The Vibe
What are you packing? A pair of sneakers you don’t mind ruining on the Seven Sisters hike (the path can get really muddy, and you’ll likely be wading through rivers in your shoes).
What are people drinking? Rum cocktails, yes, but also Six Senses’ signature Rocket Fuel, an intense blend of apple cider vinegar, orange, lemon, onion, ginger, garlic and turmeric that aids digestion and is complimentary at the coffee bar in Callaloo.
The gift shop souvenir you’re bringing home: The resort’s soft toy mascot, Caribo the green turtle. Proceeds of sales go directly to the Six Senses La Sagesse Sustainability Fund, which is dedicated to conservation and community projects like supporting children’s literacy in Grenada.
The fact you’ll tell everyone when you get home: This resort goes way beyond solar panels when it comes to sustainability (even though they have those, too). They break down all their glass bottles and turn them into holiday ornaments, use fruit scraps to make the ice cream served at Scoop Café and even process leftover oil from the kitchen during candlemaking workshops.
