When it comes to places to ski in the United States, it doesn’t get much better than Park City, Utah. While the town is really a year-round destination (warm weather activities include biking and hot-air balloon rides), it epitomizes wintertime adventures and mountain luxury, with a buzzy downtown and enviable access to Park City Mountain and Deer Valley—two of the state’s best skiing spots. Luckily, there are plenty of excellent hotels and resorts that make it easy to hit the slopes and indulge in après-ski amenities in one fell swoop.

From grand ski-in, ski-out resorts like The St. Regis Deer Valley, complete with a doorfront funicular and “ski beach” dotted with chaises lounges and firepits, to trendy stays like Pendry Park City, with its sleek, modern design, Park City more than delivers on the hospitality front. Come for the runs, stay for the heated pools and bison tartare.

Named for Stein Eriksen, a Norwegian skier and former director of skiing at Deer Valley, this property feels, fittingly, like a slice of Scandinavia in Utah. The chalet-like exterior—all timbered A-frames and towering windows—gives way to cozy lodge vibes all around, from the wood-ceilinged lobby to the fireplaces in most room categories. As you’d expect from any Park City hotel, Stein Eriksen Lodge boasts a massive list of outdoor activities (hiking, horseback riding and fly fishing in summer; bobsled rides, snowmobiling and, of course, skiing in winter), and you’ll be totally covered on the après-ski front as well, since the hotel has a sprawling spa and five dining venues. For something totally unique, book a meal in one of the lodge’s outdoor “Alpenglobes”—climate-controlled, igloo-style dining nooks—and enjoy uninterrupted mountain views without having to pile on the layers.

It’s hard to deny the sheer magnificence of Montage Deer Valley, a sprawling, stone-and-timber resort that sits directly on the slopes in the exclusive Empire Pass residential area. It has so many amenities that it almost feels like its own micro-mountain town (think: ski-in, ski-out access, on-site gear rentals and boot-warming services), and there are plenty of perks to bookend your runs, too. Families will love the on-site pub’s game room and bowling alley, as well as nightly s’mores roasts, while couples and solo travelers might gravitate toward the indoor pool, which is adults-only for most of the day, and sipping whiskey fireside at the lounge. Be sure to book a table at Apex (or Apex Steak, as it’s known in the evening) for dinner, where you can enjoy steak and caviar before expansive views of the Wasatch Mountains at night.

There are hotel amenities, and then there are those you’ll find at The St. Regis Deer Valley—like, notably, a private funicular that whisks guests from the Snow Park base area straight to the lobby. True to the storied St. Regis name, this Park City outpost is all about (literally) elevated hospitality, which can be felt most obviously when a hotel butler unpacks your suitcase or the ski valet heats up your boots each morning. The 181 rooms and suites invite relaxation with blue-gray color schemes and fireplaces galore, the perfect complement to the exhilarating ski-in, ski-out access. Don’t forget to stop by the resort’s ski beach after a long day on the slopes to unwind on sun loungers while you sip Bloody Marys (invented at the flagship St. Regis in New York, made here with local Alpine Distilling vodka and a black lava salt rim, the color nodding to Park City’s mining history).

Opened in late 2024, this newcomer sits in Deer Valley’s East Village, part of a still-developing resort expansion that will soon feature 16 new lifts, more hotels and condos, dozens of restaurants, the largest ski beach in North America and more. The flagship property already offers plenty of its own amenities, ranging from holistic spa treatments to a scene-y pool with cocktails and live music. The dining scene is especially impressive—options include a coffee shop next to the ski lockers; Hidden Ace, an underground whiskey bar; and Remington Hall, the signature restaurant serving up hearty dishes like wild boar bolognese. As for the rooms and suites: They’re all gorgeous, but be sure to upgrade to a Jordanelle Reservoir-facing room for maximum tranquility.

Pendry Park City, which opened in 2022, is one of the newer additions to the mountains, but it’s already proving to be the sleekest stay in the Canyons Village base area. The hotel stands apart from the pack with its modern aesthetics; while it still has stone and wood accents (this is Park City, after all), clean lines and modern light fixtures take center stage here. It also boasts another rarity in these parts: a heated, all-season rooftop pool, where you can enjoy 360-degree mountain views while you soak. Ski-in, ski-out access, massive rooms and a diverse dining scene (including a Japanese steakhouse and a rooftop lounge) only up the cool factor.

      Black Rock Mountain Resort

Black Rock Mountain Resort is a bit removed from the bustle of the slopes (as reflected in its more-affordable room rates), making it a great option for travelers who don’t need to rub elbows with the ski-and-be-seen crowd. The resort’s location in the Wasatch Mountains provides plenty of opportunities for adventure, and staff will help you rent bikes or book a hot-air balloon ride in the warmer months. When you aren’t outside, take advantage of the pool, sauna and game room—all of which are covered by the resort fee—or sip craft cocktails at On the Rocks bar. Families in particular will appreciate the multi-bedroom suites, which come with full kitchens.

      The Chateaux Deer Valley
      Deer Valley

As its name suggests, the Chateaux Deer Valley brings a touch of French luxury to the mountains of Utah, courtesy of beamed ceilings, cream-colored interiors and more. It’s just steps away from the Silver Lake Express lift (lest you forget you’re not actually in France), and an on-site ski shop and free shuttle to Main Street ensure you never have to work too hard to enjoy your stay. The multi-bedroom suites are particularly great for families, and even the most basic rooms have amenities like gas fireplaces and spacious bathrooms. On the après front, the heated pool and Cena Ristorante—an Italian restaurant serving surprisingly good venison—have you covered.

      Grand Summit Hotel, a RockResort
      Canyons Village

Grand Summit Hotel sits right in the Canyons Village base area, with the Orange Bubble Express and Red Pine Gondola just steps away. The look is classic Park City—vaulted ceilings, stone fireplaces and warm wood finishes—but the rooms are a bit softer and more modern; if you can, book the three-bedroom penthouse for multi-floor windows overlooking the mountains. The location means tons of après-ski spots are right outside your door, but you can easily spend at least one full evening at the hotel, hopping from the massage table to the dining yurt to the surprisingly large heated pool.

      Park City

In the heart of downtown, the all-suite Hotel Park City is a picture-perfect winter resort (though the 18-hole golf course next door makes it worth visiting in all seasons). The exterior and lobby exude classic ski lodge coziness, and every suite comes with a balcony and at least one fireplace. After a day on the slopes, the hotel’s heated outdoor pool and 10,000-square-foot spa are wonderful respites. There are several great restaurants within walking distance, though the on-site steakhouse is a tempting excuse to stay put all night.
