FAQs about using Pay Over Time after you’ve made a purchase
Chase Pay Over Time (formerly My Chase Plan®) lets Chase customers break up eligible credit card purchases into budget-friendly payments. With Chase Pay Over Time after purchase, eligible users with eligible Chase credit cards can pay off a purchase they've already made over time in equal monthly payments. There's no interest for this purchase once it's placed in a plan, just a fixed monthly fee.
Chase Pay Over Time is available on most of our consumer credit cards and select business cards.
Keep in mind: Chase Pay Over Time is available based on current account information. When your account information changes, eligibility may change. Email marketing doesn't guarantee eligibility for Chase Pay Over Time due to eligibility being contingent on your account activity. You should continue to check back as accounts are periodically reviewed for eligibility. Only the primary cardmember or authorizing officer on a business credit card account can create a Pay Over Time plan.

You can start a plan from an eligible purchase in your account activity, or through the Chase Pay Over Time dashboard on chase.com. You can also use the dashboard to check the status of your plans.
Purchases of $100 or more with the “Pay Over Time eligible” label next to the purchase amount in your credit card account activity. If your desired purchase does not have the “Pay Over Time eligible” label, it can't be put into a plan at this time. You can also find a list of eligible purchases after you choose "Set up a new plan" on the Chase Pay Over Time dashboard.
Keep in mind: Purchases do not include balance transfers, cash advances or other cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, or fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.
Purchases may not be eligible for a payment plan if it is:
- Older than 90 days
- Over $99,999
- A purchase you've disputed or claimed is fraudulent
- Already included in a promotional APR or special financing plan
- A purchase you've already started paying off
We won't charge you any interest on a purchase once it's in a Pay Over Time plan. Instead, there's a fixed monthly fee for each plan you set up.
Choose “Calculate a plan” on the Chase Pay Over Time dashboard through your online Chase account to get an idea of your plan options prior to making a large purchase. Enter the amount to see current monthly payment plan options.
Keep in mind: Using the calculator does not guarantee your purchase will be eligible and plan options may change at the time of plan creation.
You’ll still earn rewards as you usually would on the original purchase amount.
Typically, most customers can create up to 10 active or pending plans. However, depending on eligibility, some customers may have a lower maximum number of plans.
We determine the fee based on the original purchase amount, the number of billing cycles you chose to pay it in full, and other factors.
Plan durations range from 3 to 24 months, based on the purchase amount, your creditworthiness and your account history. You’ll see 1 to 3 plan duration options.
Pay at least your credit card's minimum payment when it's due each billing cycle, and you'll pay off your plan balance on time. We'll automatically add the monthly Pay Over Time plan payment to your minimum payment due each billing cycle.
Keep in mind: Once you set up a plan, you'll see a payment amount option called "Interest saving balance." When you choose this option, you'll still avoid interest on new purchases from your current billing cycle and you won't pay off your entire Pay Over Time plan balance earlier than intended.
Yes. The “Interest saving balance” payment option is available to Chase customers so that interest charges on new purchases can be avoided and Chase Pay Over Time plans won't be unintentionally paid off early. By choosing the “Interest saving balance” option, your credit card's monthly payment will include the monthly amount due for your Chase Pay Over Time plan, plus the total amount of all recent purchases reflected on your statement —giving you a way to avoid interest, while still paying off existing plan balances over time.
Yes, you can set up automatic payments at chase.com or the Chase Mobile® app.
Keep in mind:
- If you choose the “Statement balance” option while you have an active Pay Over Time plan on your account, it would pay off your entire plan amount earlier than intended.
- If you choose the “Interest saving balance” option, you won’t pay off your entire Pay Over Time plan balance earlier than intended, and you’ll still avoid interest on new purchases.
- If you choose the “Minimum payment due” option, it will include the monthly payment for Pay Over Time.
- If you choose the "Fixed amount" option, you might need to adjust the amount to cover your minimum payment due, which now includes the Pay Over Time plan monthly payment.
Although your Balance Transfer offer may be subject to 0% APR, your total transfer balance will be included in your Interest Saving Balance amount as it is still subject to interest.
Your account balances will update within 1-2 business days.
Once a Pay Over Time plan appears on your statement, you can pay it off early without any penalties by paying your full statement balance.
Keep in mind: If you want to pay it off before then, you can pay your current balance. If you pay off a plan early, you won't incur any future fees for that plan. Once a plan is paid off, there is no way to reinstate the plan.
You won't be able to change or cancel a Pay Over Time plan once you create it.
Keep in mind: You can pay your plan off early with no penalty. Once a Pay Over Time plan appears on your statement, you can pay it off early without any penalties by paying your full statement balance. If you want to pay it off before then, you can pay your current balance. If you pay off a plan early, you won't incur any future fees for that plan.
Your plan will remain active even if you miss a payment. We'll add your past-due Pay Over Time plan payment to your minimum payment due on next month's statement. Keep in mind, missing a payment may prevent you from paying off your plan within the time period you chose. We'll continue to charge the Pay Over Time plan fee every month until you've paid the plan balance in full. If you don't make your minimum payment by your due date, you may also receive a credit card late fee.
Keep in mind: You can review your credit card terms and conditions for information about late fees. If you're having trouble making your payments, please call the number on your statement or on the back of your card to talk about your options.
Unfortunately, you cannot direct payments to specific balances (e.g. Non-Plan balances, specific Chase Pay Over Time plan balances). Payments will apply based on Payment Allocation Rules noted in the Card Member Agreement applying to the highest APR balances first and then to lowest APR balances above your minimum payment due. When you make a payment, generally, we first apply your minimum payment to the balance on your monthly statement with the lowest annual percentage rate (APR). Any payment above your minimum payment would generally then be applied to the balance on your monthly statement with the highest APR first. If you do not pay your balance in full each month, you may not be able to avoid interest charges on new purchases.
Keep in mind: We generally apply payments to balances as they appear on your monthly statement before being applied to new transactions. An example of a new transaction is a recent purchase you made that has not yet been included in the New Balance as shown on your statement.
Your plan's monthly payment which includes the monthly principal and monthly plan fee will be automatically added to your card's minimum payment due each month.
Keep in mind: Additional plans may result in an increase to your minimum payment due.
If you return a purchase that's in a Pay Over Time plan and receive a merchant credit for that purchase, you'll need to call the number on your statement or on the back of your card to have the credit applied to your plan balance. Please call once the credit has posted.
Keep in mind: If no action is taken, credits will be subject to typical card payment allocation above Min Payment Due and may result in your plan remaining active for the full duration until the plan is paid off.
When the credit is posted to your account, it's applied to the highest APR balance which may or may not include your plan balance. Typically, credits allocate to purchases and plans created from your prior cycle date before being applied to your new purchases in your current billing cycle.
Keep in mind: We can't re-allocate credits toward your non-plan balances once they're applied to your Chase Pay Over Time plan or reinstate your plan.
Only the primary cardmember or authorizing officer on a business credit card account can create a Pay Over Time plan.
