Frequently Asked Questions
State laws require app developers to confirm that users meet age requirements before granting access to their apps. Apple App Store and Google Play Store handle the actual age verification; we just check that it's been completed before you can use Chase Mobile®. These laws apply to all apps, not just Chase.
No, you'll only see this if you're downloading the app for the first time or reinstalling it in a state where the law is currently active.
Texas is the only state with a law like this in effect. On January 1, 2027, California and Alabama have age verification laws going into effect. If the requirement applies to you based on your location, you may be asked to share your age range through your device app-store settings. If you choose not to share your age range, you may not be able to sign in to the Chase Mobile® app.
No. Apple or Google handles the age verification on their side, and they won’t share your birth date with Chase. Instead, they send us an age range indicator that helps us determine whether you meet the app's access requirements.
In some states, app stores and app developers must confirm a user’s age range before allowing access to apps. If the age range indicator we receive from Apple or Google shows you are under 18, you may be asked to complete an additional step—such as parent/guardian approval—before you can use Chase Mobile®. If we can’t confirm the required age or approval through your device or app-store settings, you may not be able to access the app until that step is completed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Apple manages the age‑verification step through your device settings. When you open or download Chase Mobile®, your iPhone or iPad may ask whether you want to share an age range indicator with the app. Depending on the option you choose and your device settings, you may be asked to complete an additional confirmation step. Chase does not receive your birth date, only an age range indicator needed to determine whether you meet the app’s access requirements.
Apple will ask you to share your age range when you download the app for the first time, when you open the app after a significant update, or the first time you open the app after this change takes effect. You'll only need to complete it once as long as your settings stay the same.
If you choose “Don't Share” Apple won’t send Chase the age range confirmation, and you won’t be able to sign in to Chase Mobile® until you update that setting.
To update your iPhone/iPad settings, go to:
Settings > [Your Name] > Personal Information > Age Range for Apps > Ask First, and then choose “Shared” for Chase.
You'll need to update your iPhone or iPad settings to allow age sharing with Chase Mobile®.
To update your iPhone/iPad settings, go to:
Settings > [Your Name] > Personal Information > Age Range for Apps > Ask First, and then choose “Shared” for Chase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Google manages the age‑verification step through your device settings. Chase does not receive your birth date, only an age range indicator needed to determine whether you meet the app’s access requirements. If you use a supervised Google Account managed by a parent through Family Link, Google will check whether your family manager has approved access for your age range.
No. On Android, you’ll only see this when you download the app for the first time or reinstall it (and in some cases after certain updates) in states where age‑verification requirements are in effect. If it applies to you, you’ll see a prompt in the app.
In states where age verification is required, Chase needs an age‑range confirmation from Google before allowing access. For supervised Google Accounts (Family Link), Google checks whether the family manager has approved the appropriate age range for the app. If approval is pending, your teen will need to request approval through Google/Family Link. If approval is denied, Google may not provide the confirmation needed, and your teen may not be able to use Chase Mobile®.
Google Play Store is used to support age‑verification on Android. If your Play Store is out of date, it may not be able to verify your age. Please update Google Play Store (and install any available Android system updates), then close and relaunch Chase Mobile® to continue.
Google manages the age‑verification step through Google Play Store. If you see an error, close Chase Mobile® and try again. If the issue continues, make sure Google Play Store (and your device software) is up to date, then try again. If you still can’t continue, contact us for help.
