Switching from Chase First Banking℠ is simple and easy

Just scan the QR code and select your Chase First Banking℠ account to get started in the Chase Mobile® app.

Follow the on-screen steps in the app to complete your part

  1. Confirm your child’s information to start transferring account ownership to your child. After this, your part will be done!
  2. Next, your child will need to sign in to the Chase Mobile® app with the username and password set up for them when you opened the account.

    If they don’t know their username or password, you will need to reset them by tapping “Forgot username or password” in the app.
  3. Once signed in, they will be guided through a simple set of steps to choose and open their new account.

With a new account, your child will have access to more features, including:

  • Zelle® — Send and receive money with friends, family and businesses you know and trust even if they don’t bank with Chase
  • Chase Credit Journey® — A way to encourage healthy financial habits by providing access to their free credit score
  • Direct deposit — A fast and safe way to deposit a paycheck without visiting a bank
  • Spending Planner — Set a budget, track expenses and adjust day-to-day spending — all in the Chase Mobile® app
  • Autosave — Reach savings goals with automatic transfers from a checking account to a savings account

Chase College Checking℠

  • For students 17–24 years old at account opening, enrolled in college or a vocational, technical or trade school. Proof of student status may be required.
  • $0 Monthly Service Fee up to the graduation date provided at account opening (five year maximum).

Chase Secure Banking℠

  • They can only spend the money they have available, without worrying about overdraft fees.
  • There is a $4.95 Monthly Service Fee that can be avoided with qualifying direct deposits totaling $250 or more per statement period.

Chase Total Checking®

  • A popular account for their everyday banking needs.
  • There is a $15 Monthly Service Fee that can be avoided in several ways, such as with qualifying direct deposits totaling $500 or more per statement period.

Monthly Service Fee & How to Avoid

Monthly Service Fee:
  • $0 Monthly Service Fee while in school (five years maximum); then, $0 or $15 after graduation
Eligibility for $0 Monthly Service Fee:
  • $0 Monthly Service Fee up to the expected graduation date provided at account opening (five years maximum) OR when you have any ONE of the following during each monthly statement period; $500+ in qualifying electronic deposits; or $1,500+ average ending day balance in this account; or link this account to a qualifying checking account.
Qualifying Electronic Deposits:
  • Qualifying Electronic Deposits, such as payments from your employer or government entities (benefits, tax refunds, etc.), made using the ACH network, Real Time Payment (RTP®), FedNow® Service, or third-party services that facilitate payments to your debit card using the Visa® or Mastercard® network.
  • Transactions such as Zelle®, cash, checks, wire transfers, and interest payments do not count as Qualifying Electronic Deposits.

Overdraft Fees

What it costs:
  • We charge a $34 Overdraft Fee per transaction during our nightly processing beginning with the first transaction that overdraws your account balance by more than $50 (maximum of 3 fees per business day, for a total of $102).
When a fee won’t be charged:
  • With Chase Overdraft Assist, if you’re overdrawn by $50 or less at the end of the business day OR if you’re overdrawn by more than $50 and you bring your account balance to overdrawn by $50 or less at the end of the next business day (you have until 11 PM ET (8 PM PT) to make a deposit or transfer). Chase Overdraft Assist doesn't require enrollment and comes with all Chase checking accounts except Chase First Checking, Chase High School Checking℠ or Chase Secure Checking.
  • If your transaction is $5 or less.
  • If your debit card transaction was authorized when there was a sufficient available balance in your account.
  • If your check or ACH is returned unpaid. However, we may charge an Overdraft Fee if a previously returned check or ACH is presented again and paid.
  • If your debit card transaction or ATM cash withdrawal request is declined.

Eligibility for $0 Monthly Service Fee:
  • $0 Monthly Service Fee when you have $250+ in qualifying electronic deposits OR link this account to a qualifying checking account.
