Buy stocks and ETFs using limit orders on chase.com

This video illustrates how to invest in securities at a specified price or better on chase.com. Sign in to your J.P. Morgan investment account for access to investment information including stock and ETF details and your cash available to trade. You can buy more of a stock or ETF that you already own or invest in a new one.

  1. Step oneSign in to your account, choose “Trade,” then “Stocks & ETFs”
  2. Step two Pick the account you want to use
  3. Step three The stocks or ETFs you own are listed, and you can buy more or search for a new one
  4. Step four Choose “Buy”
  5. Step five Choose the order type “Limit order” to invest in securities at a specified price or better; note that limit orders are not guaranteed to execute
  6. Step six Choose “Price details” for details about the security; the bid price is the highest price a buyer is willing to pay for the security; the ask price is the lowest price a seller is willing to sell the security for
  7. Step sevenChoose “Cash available to trade” for balance details
  8. Step eight Put in the highest price per share you’re willing to pay; you can find the last price right below the symbol
  9. Step nine Put in the number of shares you want to buy
  10. Step ten Set your time in force: If you choose Day, your order has until market close to execute; if you choose Good ’til canceled, your order has 365 days to go through
  11. Step eleven Choose “Preview,” review and confirm your order, and choose “Place order”
  12. Step twelveYour order status displays in real-time
  13. Step thirteenOnce your order completes, you can check your order status or start a new trade
