Information about your mortgage service transfer
We want to make this transition as smooth as possible for you, so we've created this one-stop resource center with answers to some of your most common questions.
What's happening:
The servicing of your mortgage loan is transferring from Chase to another mortgage servicer. This means that this new servicer will process your payments, send monthly mortgage and year-end tax statements, notify you about any account updates and, if applicable, manage your escrow account.
In the transfer information letter we mailed you, you’ll find the last date Chase will accept payments on your home loan, and the date the transfer your new servicer will take effect.
Servicing transfers are a common practice in the mortgage industry. We’ll work to make this transition as seamless as possible for you.
No, this servicing transfer won't affect the terms of your existing loan, including your interest rate, your payment due date and the length of your loan.
Yes, your new servicer will send you a letter no later than 15 days after the transfer date with your new loan number. You’ll also see your new loan number on your monthly mortgage statements after the transfer.
Your mortgage monthly, escrow and year-end statements will be available for 24 months at chase.com. To access these statements, just sign in to your chase.com account, then choose ‘Statements and Documents’ from the upper left-hand menu.
After the transfer date, you won’t have access to the rest of your mortgage account information on chase.com. We recommend you print or save any account information you think you may need before the transfer date shown in your letter. Any other Chase accounts, such as checking and credit card(s), will still be available on chase.com and won’t be affected by the transfer of your mortgage servicing.
Payment Processing:
If you make your next payment before the transfer date shown in the letter we sent you, you’ll make it to Chase. After the transfer date, Chase won’t be able to take your payment and you’ll need to send it to the new servicer. Watch for information in the mail from them with specific information on how to make your payment.
Yes, if you use individual or recurring bill payments through Chase or another bank, you’ll need to change your loan number and update the payee to your new servicer. You’ll receive more information about this change prior to your transfer.
In most cases, yes. If your automatic payments do transfer, you may need to sign a new payment agreement with your new servicer. In some cases automatic payments won't transfer so you’ll need to set-up automatic payments with your new servicer after the transfer. We’ve sent you a letter with more information on Automatic Payments.
Taxes and insurance:
You’ll receive two year-end tax statements (IRS Form 1098) for this year. Your Chase year-end statement will show the mortgage interest and taxes paid from January 1 this year up to the transfer date. Your new servicer will send your tax statement for the remainder of the year.
Yes, if you have an escrow account for taxes, homeowners and/or mortgage insurance premiums, it'll transfer with the servicing of your mortgage. Please note that the timing for your escrow analysis may not follow the same annual schedule.
No, we’ll notify your insurance company that the servicing of your loan is being transferred.
