      In short

ELECTRIFIED TATTOO: A craftmanship-obsessed tattoo shop in Webster, Texas.

AARON ROBINSON: The multitalented shop owner, who loves the freedom of running his own business.

MISSION: Leave every customer with a piece of art they’ll cherish forever.

HOW WE HELP: The Chase Card Reader® helps Aaron accept payments via debit, credit card and Tap to Pay on iPhone, including when he’s inking on the road.

BONUS TATTOO SLANG: “Slinging ink”—or the act of tattooing.

This “electric company” leaves a permanent mark

For Aaron Robinson, owner of tattoo shop Electrified Tattoo, body art is more than ink.

“Your art lives with people as long as they live,” said Aaron. “Regardless of size and complexity, Electrified Tattoo focuses on one tattoo at a time. I want every client to leave with a piece of art they’ll cherish for a lifetime.”

An artist through and through, Aaron transitioned from stage design to tattoo design when a mentor introduced him to the craft of body art. He opened his shop in 2022 in Webster, Texas.

By running his own business in a shared space with other independent artists, he has more freedom than if he worked for someone else. It’s better for the bottom line, too.

“I get to keep more money in my pocket," he said.

An owner also needs to take responsibility for every part of the customer experience, including point of sale.

Aaron is well aware of tattoos’ permanence. He wants his clients to cherish his work for a lifetime.

When the nearby ATM didn't cut it

As his business grew, Aaron recognized the need to find a reliable payment solution to accept credit card payments. He started with a fintech product, but customers were hesitant to use it. They didn’t know if it was secure.

In those cases, Aaron often suggested they go to a nearby ATM machine.

“I lost business,” said Aaron. "And I lost the connection with the person. When you tattoo someone, it’s a connection. It’s a chain event. They tell their friends, you get their friends as customers and so on. I lose more than just that one transaction if they walk away.”

Chase brand presence helps customers feel trust

As a Chase for Business customer, he transitioned to the Chase Card Reader to accept payments easily and efficiently via debit, credit card and Tap to Pay on iPhone.

"We give our customers the peace of mind that their credit card information is safe because it's processed from Chase, the banking industry leader."
      — Aaron Robinson

“The reader is on the front counter,” he said. “It says ‘Chase’ in bold. It’s a trusted source—not a little white box that people question: ‘Where does that transaction go?’ Having the Chase-branded reader has led to a large increase in credit sales.”

The artist takes pride in craftsmanship.

Taking his tats—and Chase Card Reader—on the road

Another benefit of the Chase Card Reader is its mobility. Aaron frequently works tattoo conventions. He accepts payments in a booth with the same level of security and convenience as in his shop and the portable POS system gives him a competitive edge in the convention world.

Fast checkout also means Aaron has more time to build business, chatting with people on the floor. As he prepares to open a second location in Galveston, Texas, the name of the game is building connections that are more than skin deep.
