Imagine being told you might never walk again. That’s the news BMX Hall of Famer Eddy King received after an accident left him with a fractured spine. But Eddy wasn’t ready to give up, and neither were the owners of MOVE Human Performance Center & Physical Therapy.

“From day one of opening our doors, we pushed to better people daily,” recalls Chad Dunn, co-founder of the Chandler, Arizona clinic. “Starting with Eddy King and getting him back to walking after suffering a broken back from mountain biking, the people just kept coming and coming.”

After years of therapy, Eddy began walking again — one of many success stories at MOVE, and an example of what’s possible when relentless care meets determination.

A vision built on purpose — and persistence

The idea for MOVE came when Chad realized the true value of what he had to offer. “I knew I had to build a team that could do more for our community,” Chad explains. But getting there wasn’t easy.

“The initial journey was full of trial and error,” he recalls. “I met with angel investors, banks, money people — you name it — until I figured out the right way to fund our dream.”

Chad and his wife, Jackie, opened MOVE with one mission: to create a space where people could focus on the recovery they truly needed without being limited by insurance policies. “We didn’t want a cookie-cutter therapy environment,” Jackie adds. “We wanted to break the mold.”

And that’s exactly what they did. What started as a two-person team has since evolved into one of Arizona’s premier physical therapy and performance centers, offering a range of services including physical therapy, cryotherapy and sports performance.

Staying open when the world shut down

The COVID-19 pandemic hit just three years after MOVE opened its doors, threatening to upend everything. But Chad and Jackie refused to close, knowing their clients depended on them.

“We were essential to the community, and we had an obligation to our employees,” Jackie recalls. “By the time it was all said and done, I don’t know how many kids and parents came to us crying, saying how much we helped them stay out of the black hole because they had nothing else but MOVE.”

Keeping their doors open wasn’t just about business. It was about showing up for the people who relied on them. “Our community needed us,” Jackie says. And as the needs of the community continue to evolve, she and Chad are focusing on how to rise to meet those new challenges as well.

    Reaching new heights with Chase

As MOVE’s clientele expanded, so did the need for trusted financial guidance. That’s where Chase for Business came in.

“Two and a half years ago, we moved all our business accounts to Chase, got a loan and paid off the family loan that helped us start,” Jackie says.

For the Dunns, it was a simple decision. “I’ve been a customer of Chase Bank for nearly 25 years, starting with my individual personal training company,” says Chad. “And now everything involved with MOVE — our retirement plans, personal accounts and business accounts — is with Chase. We’re actually hoping to implement their payroll system and program next. Whatever Chase offers, we’ll use.”

Chad and Jackie are also proud of extending the same passion they bring to their clients to their employees by offering long-term financial security through Everyday 401(k) by J.P. Morgan. “Giving our employees a career, not just a job, has always been our priority,” Chad explains.

A new chapter with Everyday 401(k)

In 2023, Jackie and Chad made a game-changing decision for their team when they introduced Everyday 401(k) by J.P. Morgan to help secure their employees’ financial futures. For the Dunns, offering the plan was about more than just benefits; it was about creating a career path for their employees.

“We take pride in every person who works for us,” Jackie says. “Providing a 401(k) is one way we’re showing them they’re part of something long term.”

Jackie highlights the seamless transition from their previous 401(k) provider to Everyday 401(k). “The conversion and setup was smooth. All I had to do was send the reports, and J.P. Morgan handled the rest,” she says. “Now I just pay the contributions and go about my day.”

The plan has been a hit with MOVE’s employees. “They love it,” Jackie says. “Even our younger employees, who were hesitant at first. I had to convince them at first, but now when they see their balances, they’re like, ‘Wow, that’s awesome.’”

    Big plans, bigger goals

Looking ahead, the Dunns are focused on their next big goal: owning their own facility. And just as with their initial expansion, they’ll be turning to Chase to help make it happen.

“Our next goal is to buy our own building within the next few years, and we’re confident Chase will be with us every step of the way,” Jackie says.

But for the Dunns, the big picture is all about people. “It’s about being able to continue changing lives,” Chad says. From helping athletes recover to supporting burn survivors to helping their employees across the retirement finish line – to the retirement they have earned, MOVE’s mission is far from complete.

As for other entrepreneurs? Chad has simple but powerful advice: “Have a plan. With a plan comes success, and Chase will be there to help you grow.”
