  • Lower monthly payments: Home equity rates can be lower than credit card or other loan rates, so you can decrease your monthly payments by consolidating your debt and save money on the interest you pay.
  • Save on taxes: The interest you pay may be tax deductible, while credit card and auto loan interest payments are not. Talk to your tax advisor about how much of your home equity line of credit interest may be tax deductible.
  • No closing costs: While there are no closing costs for a home equity line of credit, you may be required to pay an origination fee. There’s also an annual fee of $50.

  • Payment options: There are two payment options available during the draw period: 1% of the outstanding balance (includes principal and interest) or interest only on the outstanding balance. During the repayment period, you’ll pay principal and interest on the outstanding balance.

Chase Fixed-Rate LockSM Option

If you like predictable monthly payments, you should consider switching from a variable rate to a fixed rate on all or a portion of the outstanding balance of your line of credit with the Chase Fixed-Rate LockSM Option. You can request to lock in a rate at your closing or during your draw period.

Here’s how it works

  • You have the option of locking in a specific amount at a fixed rate for up to 20 years.
  • You can have up to five locks at any time and create names for each lock to stay organized.
  • As you pay down the locked balance, the available line of credit amount increases and becomes available for use.
  • You can cancel a lock within 45 days from the beginning of the lock.
