The Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP) is a government-sponsored program that was first introduced in April 2009. Recent changes to the program have expanded the guidelines to include more homeowners who were previously unable to refinance due to declining property values.
HARP is designed to help homeowners with an acceptable payment history who may owe more on their existing mortgage than the current home's value refinance to a more stable mortgage. HARP refinance loans require a complete loan application and will follow the regular underwriting process.
If Chase is your mortgage servicer, we already know your home's value, and in most cases, you won’t be required to have an appraisal, even if your home is worth less than you owe. Once we’ve reviewed your application, we’ll inform you if additional information is required.
The newly expanded HARP program increases the opportunity for more homeowners to refinance their mortgage loans. If you were previously declined, we encourage you to call us at 1-800-228-4922 to have a Mortgage Banker determine if you meet the new HARP eligibility guidelines.
If you have missed only one payment in the last year, but have not missed any payments in the past six months, you may still be eligible for HARP. Please call us at 1-800-228-4922 or visit your local Chase branch to have a Mortgage Banker determine your eligibility for the HARP program.
