You'll need to make a minimum deposit to open an account online. The minimum amount varies by product.

How soon will my account be funded and available for use?

  • If you use your debit or check card to make your initial deposit — Typically, we can open your new account the same day if you submit your application before 8:00 PM local time. If you submit your application after 8:00 PM local time or on any non-business day, we'll open your new account the next business day. However, please note that it can take up to five business days for us to receive your debit card funds after you submit your application. You should be able to see your new account online once we receive the funds to deposit into your new account.
  • If you use a checking or savings account from another institution to make your initial deposit — Transfers we receive from other institutions are subject to the processing times of those institutions and typically are received within five business days after you submit the application and successfully validate your external account. You should be able to see your new account online once we receive the funds to deposit into your new account.
  • If you use an existing Chase checking or savings account to make your initial deposit — Typically, we can open your new account the same day if you submit your application before 11:00 PM Eastern time. If you submit your application after 11:00 PM Eastern time or on any non-business day, we'll open your new account the next business day. However, please note that it can take up to one business day for us to complete a transfer from another Chase account after you submit your application. You should be able to see your new account online once we receive the funds to deposit into your new account.
