How is the foreign exchange rate calculated?

  • Visa International or MasterCard International will convert transaction into U.S. dollars using their own currency conversion procedures prior to sending transaction amount to Chase
    • Exchange rate will be determined using one of following:
      • Range of rates available in wholesale currency markets for processing date (which may be different from rate received by card association)
      • Government-mandated rate in effect on that date
      • Exchange rate used by Visa or MasterCard may differ from rate on date of transaction

Where can I learn more about my card benefits?

You can find your product benefits on the credit card home page by selecting your credit card and going to the “Additional Benefits” section on the bottom of the page.

Why can’t I use my card in certain countries?

Certain countries are sanctioned by the federal government’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), so we can’t set up travel notifications for those countries.

Does my chip-enabled card need a PIN when I travel?

Your debit card may ask for your PIN to complete the transaction. Your credit card, however, does not require a PIN. If a merchant asks about a PIN, you can say that your card only requires a signature for verification. If the merchant card reader prompts for a PIN, it may allow you to “Cancel” out of the prompt so you can sign. You may also be able to select “Enter” or “Continue” to bypass the PIN request.

How do I contact Chase while traveling?
