Purchasing checklist

Here's what you'll need to get your car loan. Having these documents ready will help make your car financing process easier and faster.

During the application and loan process, you'll need the following information:

  • Your Chase OnlineSM user ID and password (You must be enrolled in Chase Online to apply for an auto loan online.)
  • Vehicle make, model and year - vehicle must not be 5 years older than the current model year
  • Vehicle mileage - must be under 75,000 miles
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
  • Any vehicle features and special options
  • County of vehicle registration
  • Car insurance information

Note: If you're purchasing a new or used car and don't yet know the details about the car, you can still apply for a loan. We'll collect this information later.

Dealer Purchase

When buying from a dealer, you'll need:

  • A copy of the purchase agreement (this should show the amount you want to finance)
  • The dealership contact information (so we may verify the purchase information)

Note: Any down payment made should be shown on the purchase agreement. Gap insurance may not be financed.

If you select automatic payments to be deducted from a Chase checking account to pay your car loan, we will request your checking account and check routing numbers.

A Power of Attorney (POA) is required and will be notarized at closing. (Chase branches typically provide a notary public at no cost to you.)

At your convenience, we will schedule a date and time for you to sign your loan documents at a Chase branch.

For a dealer purchase, any down payment made should be shown on the purchase agreement.  Certain products, including credit life and debt cancelation (such as GAP insurance), may not be sold in connection with Chase financing.

Additional documents that may be requested:

  • Verification of income (for example, most recent paystubs and W2s)
  • Verification of identity
  • Verification of residence (for example, a copy of a utility bill)
  • Proof of an auto trade-in or paid-in-full auto loan
