What is a Chase Liquid Card?

Chase Liquid Card is a reloadable prepaid card that can be used virtually anywhere VISA® debit cards are accepted. Excluding rentals (e.g.,cars, equipment, furniture). It allows you to manage your money and gives you access to over Chase ATMs and branches nationwide where you can load money to your card, make no fee cash withdrawals and more. How does a Chase Liquid Card work?

  • Reload your card - Load paychecks, government benefit checks, and tax refunds by signing up for Direct Deposit. You can also deposit checks using Chase QuickDepositSMFootnote 1, or transfer money onto your Chase Liquid Card from an eligible Chase checking or savings account online, with Chase Mobile®3, returns to footnote reference., at a Chase ATM, or by phone.
  • Use your card - Shop online or in stores (excluding rentals, e.g., cars, equipment, furniture), withdraw money at an ATM or branch, or pay bills using your 16-digit Card number on merchant sites that accept VISA® debit cards.
  • Check your balance - Stay on top of your balance by setting up Account AlertsFootnote 5 on Chase.com, where you can also view recent activity. When you're on the go, use Chase Mobile Banking to keep track of your balance and recent activity.

Are there services unavailable with Chase Liquid Card?

The following services are not available with your Chase Liquid Card:

  • Rental purchases (e.g., cars, equipment, furniture).
  • Transfers from your Card to another card or account
  • Payments using Chase Liquid account and routhing numbers
  • Check writing
  • Chase QuickPaySM to send and receive money
  • Online Bill Pay
  • Wire transfers (incoming and outgoing)

Are there any limits on how much I can spend on my Chase Liquid Card ?

You may withdraw up to $500 cash per day from an ATM, and you may make purchases, along with cash advances at the teller, totaling up to $3,000 per day. Withdrawals and purchases that exceed the balance on your Card will be declined. See complete Chase Liquid Agreement (PDF) for details.

Can Chase Liquid Card have a negative balance?

A negative balance may occur if the final purchase amount the merchant submits to us is greater than the amount we originally authorized, or if the merchant processes a transaction without prior authorization. Your Monthly Service Fee will also deduct from your balance even when your available balance is less than the Monthly Service Fee. You should immediately add more money to Chase Liquid to bring your balance above zero. There are no overdraft fees for Chase Liquid.

What are the benefits of owning a Chase Liquid Card?

  • It's safer than cash, and you can rest easy knowing your money is FDIC insured, up to the maximum allowed by law.
  • You won't be charged any overdraft fees.
  • You can monitor your activity and stay on top of your spending by checking your balance and setting up Chase Account AlertsFootnote 4 with Chase OnlineSM and Chase Mobile®.
  • No fee to load funds and make withdrawals at Chase ATMs and Chase branches.
  • Zero liability protection: Chase reimburses you for any unauthorized Card transactions made at stores, ATMs, on the phone or online when reported promptly. Are there any fees for using a Chase Liquid Card?

Is Chase Liquid Card a credit card?

Chase Liquid Card is a reloadable prepaid card that you can load with money at any time. You may not spend more than what is available on your card. This allows you to help manage how much money you have to spend.

How is Chase Liquid Card different from a gift card?

A Chase Liquid Card is reloadable, so you can continually load money to your card with cash or checks without the need to open another card. And unlike many gift cards, you can withdraw cash at ATMs and branches.

Can I use my Chase Liquid Card at any ATM?

You can get cash at over Chase ATMs and at other participating non-Chase ATMs. Find Chase ATM locations.

Some ATMs may not have "Prepaid" as an option when processing your transaction. If "Prepaid" isn't an option, select "Checking" to complete your transaction with your Chase Liquid Card.

Note: We charge a $2 fee if you use your card at a non-Chase ATM, and you may be charged a non-Chase ATM transaction fee by the ATM owner.

How can I get a Chase Liquid Card?

Stop into any Chase branch to open a Chase Liquid Card. If you are not issued a personalized card at the branch, you will receive a temporary Chase Liquid Card that you can start using right away. Your personalized card (embossed with your name) is ordered when you receive your temporary card and will arrive in the mail within 7-10 days. The personalized card will replace any previous card issued. Once you activate your new card, safely destroy your old card as it is no longer valid.

Where will Chase mail my personalized Chase Liquid Card?

We will mail your personalized Chase Liquid Card to the address you provided when you opened the card. It will arrive within 7-10 days.

How do I activate my Chase Liquid Card?

To activate your card, call 1-800-225-5623 from the phone number you provided when you opened your card at the branch or perform a PIN-based transaction at a merchant or Chase ATM.

What can I do with the temporary Chase Liquid Card?

The temporary Chase Liquid Card you receive at the branch is a fully functioning card that you can use immediately at Chase ATMs or virtually anywhere VISA® debit cards are accepted. Excluding rentals (e.g., cars, equipment, furniture).

How much does it cost to open a Chase Liquid Card?

There is no fee to open a Chase Liquid Card, but a $25 minimum load is required.

Who can get a Chase Liquid Card?

You must be at least 18 years old and provide satisfactory identification. Subject to credit approval.

How many Chase Liquid Cards can I own?

You may own more than one Chase Liquid Card; however, we may limit the number of Chase Liquid Cards issued to you at our sole discretion.

How can I load money to my Chase Liquid Card?

There are four simple ways to load money:

  1. Sign up for Direct Deposit of your paycheck, government benefit check, or tax refund.
  2. Load checks using Chase QuickDepositSM on your eligible mobile deviceFootnote 1. You may also load cash or checks at any Chase DepositFriendlySM ATM or at your nearest Chase branch.
  3. Transfer money to your Chaes Liquid Card from an eligible Chase checking or savings account with Chase OnlineSM, Chase Mobile®, or by phone.
  4. Transfer from an eligible external account online

Can I load money to my Chase Liquid Card at a Chase ATM?

Yes, you can also load cash or checks at over 11,500 Chase Deposit FriendlySM ATMs for no additional charge.

When will my deposits become available?

In most cases, ATM deposits and transfers must be made before 11:00 PM Eastern time to meet the same business day cutoff.

In some cases, we may not make all of the funds that you deposited by check available by the first business day after your deposit. Funds may not be available until the second business day after your deposit. However, at least the first $200 of these deposits will be available on the first business day after your deposit. Can I load money at a non-Chase ATM?

No, ATM deposits to your Chase Liquid Card can only be made at Chase DepositFriendlySM ATMs.

Does Chase Liquid Card have any limits on how much money can be loaded to the Card?

There are no limits on how much or how little money you can have on your card. However, cash deposits are limited to up to $4,000 a month. There is no limit for other types of deposits, such as direct deposit, check deposits at ATM/Teller or transfers from your Chase checking or savings account to your Chase Liquid Card. How does Chase Liquid work?

Once you open a Chase Liquid Card at a Chase branch, you can use it virtually anywhere VISA® debit cards are accepted.Footnote 2 Shop online, pay bills through your service provider by using your card number, or withdraw cash from an ATM.

Can I use my Chase Liquid Card immediately after adding money?

You can use your Chase Liquid Card immediately after you load cash at an ATM or Chase branch. When you load a check at an ATM or Chase branch, funds are subject to the Funds Availability Policy. See complete Chase Liquid Agreement (PDF).

Can I transfer money from my Chase Liquid Card to another account?

Transfers from a Chase Liquid Card to other accounts or prepaid cards is not available.

Can I use my Chase Liquid Card in other countries? Is there a cost or fee for doing so?

You can use your Chase Liquid Card internationally virtually anywhere VISA® debit cards are accepted. Excluding rentals (e.g., cars, equipment, furniture). If the purchase is not completed in U.S. Dollars, it will be converted or exchanged to U.S. Dollars. The exchange rate will be applied either by the network that processes your transaction or the government- mandated rate in effect for the date that the network processes your transaction, which may be on a date that is different than when you actually used the card. In addition, a 3% Exchange Rate Adjustment Fee will be added to the converted amount.

Can I get cash at the register when I am making a purchase with my Chase Liquid Card?

You can get cash back at a checkout terminal during a PIN-based purchase if the merchant supports it. Just select "debit" or "ATM" at the register.

Is there a fee for using a non-Chase ATM?

There is a $2 fee. The non-Chase ATM owner may impose an additional fee.

Can I split a purchase, paying with my Chase Liquid Card and a portion in cash?

You may do so if the merchant allows it.

Can my Chase Liquid Card purchases be declined?

Most merchants ask us to authorize your purchase. When we give authorization to a merchant, we will hold funds on your Chase Liquid Card, generally for up to 3 business days, to pay for your purchase. For gas station purchases, up to $50 may be temporarily reserved when you use your Chase Liquid Card to pay at the pump. To avoid a declined purchase or incurring a hold greater than your actual purchase, pay for gas purchases at the cashier. Additionally, rentals (e.g. cars, equipment, furniture) are not eligible purchases with Chase Liquid and will be declined. See complete Chase Liquid Agreement (PDF) for details.

When swiping my card, should I select "credit" or "debit"?

You have a choice and it is always up to you:

  • If you select "credit," you will not need to provide your PIN and you may need to sign a receipt.
  • If you select "debit" or "ATM," you will need to enter your PIN. When the merchant supports it, this option allows you to withdraw cash with your purchase.

Will I be credited if I need to return or exchange a purchase?

Any credit for returned or exchanged merchandise must come from the merchant and is subject to their policies. It may take up to 7 business days after we receive credit from the merchant to add it back to your balance.

Can I pay bills with my Chase Liquid Card?

You can pay bills using your 16-digit Chase Liquid Card number with merchants that accept VISA® debit cards. Chase Online Bill Pay is not available.

How can I sign up for Direct Deposit?

Log on to Chase OnlineSM, click on the Customer Center tab, and download the Direct Deposit form. Complete this form and give to your employer's payroll department to request Direct Deposit of your payroll check. You can use this same form to set up Direct Deposit of government benefit checks and tax refunds, too.

Can I build my credit rating by using the Chase Liquid Card?

Chase Liquid will not help build your credit rating. Chase Liquid is not a credit card, so there are no payments that would be reported to credit agencies.

Managing Chase Liquid

How can I manage Chase Liquid online using Chase.com?

You can keep track of your card activity by using Chase.com

When you enroll in Chase Online,

You can view:

  • Money loaded to your card at an ATM or branch
  • Cash withdrawals made at ATMs
  • Purchases made with your card
  • Chase Liquid monthly statements

You can set up:

  • Direct Deposit to have your paycheck, government benefits check, or tax refund added to your Chase Liquid Card. Download a Direct Deposit form found in the Customer Center tab when you log in to Chase OnlineSM and give it to your employer or benefits provider. We do not charge a fee for this service.
  • Account Alerts help you to monitor your Chase Liquid balance on your phone, through email or text alertsFootnote 3

How do I set up and manage my Account Alerts?

Chase Account AlertsFootnote 5 are easy to set up. Most Alerts can be sent to you via email or text message. You can enroll, set up, and manage Alerts by logging on to Chase OnlineSM and selecting the "Account Alerts" link in the Customer Center.

You can customize your Alerts by setting dollar amount thresholds for different balances and transactions, including ATM withdrawals and Chase Liquid Card activity. We'll automatically notify you when activity on your account triggers one of the Alerts you've specified.

Delivery of Alerts may be delayed for various reasons, including service outages affecting your phone, wireless, or internet provider, technology failures, and system capacity limitations.

Alerts can be used to notify you of many different types of activities including:

  • Your daily card summary
  • When your balance falls below an amount you've specified
  • When a Chase Liquid Card transaction exceeds an amount you've specified
  • When an ATM withdrawal exceeds an amount you've specified
  • When a Direct Deposit greater or lesser than an amount you've specified has posted

How can I see where I used my Chase Liquid Card?

You can see where you've used your card by viewing your activity on Chase OnlineSM, Chase Mobile®, or at a Chase ATM.

Will I get a paper statement?

You can view your statement and update your statement preferences online at any time at no charge when you enroll in Chase Online. You may also request a paper copy of your statement by visiting a branch or calling a Chase Telephone Banker at 1-877-712-0088. See Chase Liquid Agreement (PDF) for complete details.

How can I check my Chase Liquid Card balance?

Using Chase Mobile®

What is the Chase Mobile App?

The free Chase Mobile App combines the benefits of Chase.com with the power of your iPad®, iPhone®, AndroidTM, Kindle Fire or Windows® Phone. Learn more about Chase Mobile.

Are there fees to use the Chase Mobile® App?

There is no charge from Chase to download or use the Chase Mobile App. However, you should contact your wireless service provider to see if any connectivity or usage rates may apply. Fees as described in your Chase Liquid Agreement (PDF) still apply.

Do I have to be enrolled in Chase Online to use the Chase Mobile® App?

For security purposes, you must be enrolled in Chase Online to access Chase Liquid Card information and perform banking transactions through the Chase Mobile App.

Can I use the same User ID and Password for my Chase Mobile® App that I use for Chase OnlineSM?

You will need to use the same User ID and Password for Chase Mobile that you use for Chase Online. If you're not enrolled in Chase Online or have forgotten your User ID and Password, enroll now or retrieve your User ID and Password.

How do I start using my Chase Mobile® App?

To get started, simply go to the Chase Mobile App and log in. We'll prompt you to verify that you own the Chase Liquid Card you want to access from your phone. To do this, you'll need to request an Identification Code, which we'll send to you by phone, email, or text message, depending on the delivery method you selected. When you receive your Identification Code, you can use it to complete the identification process and log on to the Chase Mobile App.

Which accounts are available through my Chase Mobile® App?

In addition to your Chase Liquid Card, you can see the same Chase checking, savings, money market, investment, credit card, business, home equity, auto, and mortgage accounts you access on Chase Online using your Chase Mobile App.

If you have a student loan, you won't be able to log on through the Chase Mobile App unless you have other Chase account types as well.

What can I do with my Chase Mobile® App?

Some features are available only for eligible accounts. Some restrictions may apply. Using your Chase Mobile App, you can:

  • Deposit checks - You can use your camera-enabled mobile device to make a deposit via Chase QuickDepositSMFootnote 1.
  • Transfer money - You can transfer funds to your Chase Liquid Card from an eligible Chase checking or savings account.
  • See Chase Liquid Card balances - The Account Details page displays your balance information.
  • See Chase Liquid Card transaction history - You can see the transactions made on your Chase Liquid Card or other accounts accessible from your mobile device.
  • Get Account Alerts - Receive and customize Alerts to help you stay on top of your balance(s) and monitor your activity.Footnote 5
  • Find a branch/ATM - You can locate the ATMs and branches closest to you.
  • Retrieve contact and other information easily

Using Chase QuickDepositSM

What is Chase QuickDepositSM?

Chase QuickDeposit is a service that allows you to take a picture of your check with your camera-enabled mobile device and send the images electronically to Chase for deposit onto your Chase Liquid Card.

How does Chase QuickDepositSM work?

To use Chase QuickDeposit, take a picture of the front and back of your endorsed check. You can use the Chase Mobile® App to transmit an electronic image of the check to Chase, thereby depositing the funds onto your Chase Liquid Card. We'll store the check images online for secure, accurate, and efficient record keeping.

You may submit your deposits at any time and may include one check in a single deposit. You can submit as many deposits as you need to each day, up to $2,000 per account. There is a $5,000 monthly limit per account for deposits made with Chase QuickDeposit. If you're a Private Bank client, you can submit up to $25,000 per day and $100,000 per month.

What are the advantages of using Chase QuickDepositSM?

With Chase QuickDeposit, you can:

  • Save time and money by eliminating trips to the bank to deposit checks.
  • Access your Chase Liquid Card and check images anytime on Chase.com with Chase OnlineSM.
  • Reduce paperwork by storing your check images and transaction history on our secure site.

Is Chase QuickDepositSM secure?

Chase QuickDeposit is protected by several layers of security. We use 128-bit SSL encryption technology to protect your financial activities while using the Chase Mobile® App. You must enter your Chase Online User ID and Password to access your Chase Liquid Card information.

When I use Chase QuickDepositSM, when will my money be available?

If we receive a scanned Item on or before 11:00 p.m. EST on a business day we are open, we will consider that day to be the day of deposit. If we receive a scanned Item after 11:00 p.m. EST or on a weekend or a state or federal holiday, we will consider that the deposit was made on the next business day.

Funds from deposits made via this service generally will be available for withdrawal by the next business day after the day of deposit. However, we may apply additional delays on the availability of funds based on any other factors as determined by us in our sole discretion.

What kind of checks can I process using Chase QuickDepositSM?

Chase QuickDeposit can process checks payable in U.S. dollars and drawn on any U.S. bank, including, but not limited to:

  • Personal checks
  • Business checks
  • U.S. Treasury checks
  • Traveler's checks
  • Money orders

Can foreign currency checks be processed through Chase QuickDepositSM?

Chase QuickDeposit is only for checks payable in U.S. dollars and drawn on banks in the United States.

Can I export, save, and print images of my deposited items?

You can export, save, and print your images on Chase.com.

You can also export:

  • Lists of deposits
  • Items in a deposit
  • Return and adjustment items

How long can I see information about my submitted deposits?

You can see detailed information about a submitted deposit at Chase.com for 120 calendar days. You can see general deposit details on "My Accounts" for up to 120 days and access them for up to 13 months on "See Activity" on your mobile device.

Is there a limit to the amount I can deposit in one day or one month?

You can deposit up to $2,000 per day per account, and up to $5,000 per month per account using Chase QuickDepositSM.

If you're a Private Bank client, you can submit up to $25,000 per day and $100,000 per month.

How do I get the best image of the check using Chase QuickDepositSM?

  1. Flatten the check and place it on a dark, non-reflective surface. Make sure there is enough light to distinguish the check from the background.
  2. Line up the check with the horizontal and vertical guides provided and click the camera icon to take a picture.
  3. The image will be displayed for you to review. If it is not readable, click "Retake" to retake the picture of the check.
  4. If you can read the details on the check, click "Use" to keep the image. If our system can't correctly interpret the writing on your check, you can always deposit your check at any Chase branch or Chase DepositFriendlySM ATM.

Note: Please remember to endorse the check before you scan it. If you don't, the payor's bank may choose not to pay it, and the deposit credit to your Chase Liquid Card will be reversed.

How long should I keep the original checks?

Once you've scanned and submitted your deposit, you should mark the checks as having been deposited and store them in a secure location until you destroy them. There are no laws or regulations that specify any length of time you need to keep the original checks. We recommend that you destroy the original checks immediately after the deposits have been posted to your Chase Liquid Card.

How do I set up online access?

Go to Chase.com to set up online access to your Chase Liquid Card. If you have any questions, you can visit a branch or contact us.

How do I change or update my online profile?

You can see and update your profile settings in the Customer Center at Chase Online.

What should I do if I forget my User ID and/or Password?

Go to Chase.com and click "Forgot User ID and/or Password." Then follow the prompts to retrieve your current log-on information or create a new User ID or Password.

How do I request a new PIN for ATM access and in-store purchases?

Visit a branch, call a Chase Telephone Banker at 1-877-712-0088 or visit Chase.com to request a PIN.

What should I do if I forget my PIN?

Visit a branch, call a Chase Telephone Banker at 1-877-712-0088 or visit Chase.com to request a new PIN.

What can I do to keep my PIN and Password secure?

Do not create an obvious PIN or Password like your birthday or a pet's name. Never give your PIN to anyone and avoid carrying it with you. Change your PIN from time to time and do not write the PIN on your Chase Liquid Card.

You have full access to Chase.com to track your balance and view recent activity. Or, Chase Telephone Bankers are available 24/7 at 1-877-712-0088. You can also visit one of our more than conveniently located branches nationwide.

Does the Chase Liquid Card expire?

The card will expire on the date listed on your card. We will send you a new card approximately 30 days before it is set to expire.

Can I dispute a Chase Liquid Card transaction?

To dispute a transaction, please call a Chase Telephone Banker right away at 1-877-712-0088 or visit your nearest Chase branch.

You will need to provide the following:

  • Your name and account number
  • A description and explanation of the error
  • The dollar amount of the error

You can also submit a purchase inquiry online through the Secure Message Center at Chase.com.

What if my card, PIN or Password is lost or stolen? Am I protected against any fraudulent charges or identity theft?

If your card is lost, stolen, or damaged, call us immediately at 1-877-712-0088 or visit your nearest Chase branch to report. Your Chase Liquid Card comes with Zero Liability protection, which means that you will not pay for any unauthorized transactions as long as they are reported promptly. Certain limitations apply. Is my money covered by any insurance?

The funds credited to your Card are covered by FDIC insurance up to the base coverage amount of $250,000 per deposit or for combined deposits at Chase.

How do I close Chase Liquid?

To close Chase Liquid, call a Chase Telephone Banker at 1-877-712-0088 or visit your nearest Chase branch.
