NEW YORK, May 5, 2011 –JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) announced today that it is partnering with the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) , a nonpartisan institution focused on national security, to study the unique challenges facing service members, veterans and their families.
The partnership includes a two-year commitment from JPMorgan Chase to fund research for the CNAS Military Wellness program in support of the White House’s recently announced Joining Forces initiative. Joining Forces, spearheaded by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, is a comprehensive national initiative to mobilize all sectors of society to give U.S. servicemembers, veterans and their families the opportunities and support they have earned.
“As a corporate citizen, we have a responsibility to support the needs of those who defend our freedom at home and abroad,” said Tom Higgins, JPMorgan Chase’s head of Operational Control and Military and Veterans Affairs. “We are honored to unite with such a respected organization as the Center for a New American Security to better mobilize corporate, non-profit and community-based resources to serve those who serve our country.”
“The deployment-related needs of veterans, military servicemembers and their families have significant national security implications,” said CNAS CEO Nathaniel Fick. “We plan to harness the expertise of our team, our independent and nonpartisan platform and our convening power to support this initiative.”
The CNAS partnership is part of JPMorgan Chase’s broader commitment to support service members, veterans and their families, including reduced Servicemembers Civil Relief Act pricing, enhanced home ownership and foreclosure prevention assistance, education and job training resources and a joint commitment with other major U.S. corporations to hire 100,000 veterans over the next 10 years.
“Working together with experts at the Center for a New American Security, JPMorgan Chase will be better informed when making decisions about military and veteran programs,” said Frank Bisignano, Chief Administrative Officer for JPMorgan Chase and CEO of Chase Home Lending. “The better we understand these unique challenges, the better we can serve our military and veteran customers with their financial and personal needs.”
