New website helps veterans match military specialty to open jobs at employers across U.S.

NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2011 – Adding more firepower to the recruiting effort, five U.S. companies have joined the 100,000 Jobs Mission to highlight the advantages of bringing veterans onboard – and to hire veterans.

“We are delighted to welcome these great companies to our mission, and we encourage other employers across the country to join in,” said Nate Herman, Executive Director, Military and Veterans Affairs for JPMorgan Chase, a founder of the 100,000 Jobs Mission. “We owe our nation’s veterans an opportunity for success after the military because they have done so much for our country, but hiring veterans is also good for our businesses. They make outstanding employees and bring tremendous skills to the civilian workforce.”

The following companies have recently joined the mission to hire 100,000 military members leaving active duty service and other veterans by 2020:

Today, the unemployment rate among veterans who have served since 2001 stands at nearly 12%-- more than 2 percentage points higher than the national average.

The 100,000 Jobs Mission member companies together currently employ more than one million people. Together, they are working to expand the partnership with other like minded firms that are equally committed to hiring veterans. The following companies are founding members of the mission:
