Challenge the Best Golfers and Support Military Families
Fundraiser Provides Scholarships for Children of those Killed or Wounded
Have you always wanted to tee off against some of the world's leading golfers? Now you can, if you act quickly.
Register and play a round by May 25 to put your score up against the performance of one of the top pros in the Patriot Golf Championship, all for a good cause: The event supports Folds of Honor, an organization started by veteran fighter pilot Major Dan Rooney to provide educational scholarships to families of military men and women killed or disabled while on active duty. When the pros play the tournament on May 25, you'll find out if you beat your chosen pro's score.
“Time and time again golfers demonstrate that they are benevolent, patriotic Americans," says Major Rooney. “We have about a thousand scholarship applications approved for the fall that we're looking to get funding for."
Major Rooney says he has had the opportunity to play against some of his golfing idols, though his game may need a little work.
“Everything in my life leads back to golf, but I definitely play like I'm a fighter pilot, father of five that runs a nonprofit. There are times I think, 'I probably shouldn't quit my day job.'"
He probably shouldn't. His organization is about to give out its 10,000th scholarship.
