Cari Champion:

I definitely don't believe it's what I do for a living in terms of my profession. I think it is the way in which I'm able – or at least I hope that I'm able – to impact others. I have huge dreams,

Cari Champion:

I still have huge dreams, and I think that my legacy will be what I have shared with those in a very genuine, authentic way about how to pursue those dreams.

Cari Champion:

When I grew up, my mother would always say, "Yes, whatever you want, try it, do it. Yes, yes, yes." And I think often, in a world where we hear so many noes, it's always nice to come to a safe space and someone says, "Yes, try it. Why not?" It encourages me, so I know it can encourage you and others to live the life you've always wanted to. I just, I don't live in a world where I feel like we can't do what we want to do. I do believe that there are so many creative people in the world who are still waiting for that one yes. There are so many people who have another vision for their lives in terms of what they want to do or what they want to leave for their children. And it's never too late to leave something.

Cari Champion:

My grandmother – still alive to this day – she moved to L.A. from Arkansas in the segregated South. When she moved to Los Angeles, she worked so many different odd jobs, she was a maid, she did all these different things. Whatever it took, she did it. But she always found her joy in the yes. She traveled, she was one of the first people in our family to travel abroad. And when I graduated from high school, she had set aside an account for all of her grandchildren. Now, it wasn't a lot of money, but she had started it really young, as soon as we were born. And when I graduated from high school, she gave me this money to do with what I pleased. And I remember thinking to myself, "Here's a woman from the segregated South who's worked odd jobs, but she wanted to give us a yes. She wanted us to have something when we became adults at 21 years old because she saw the vision and the dream of creating a new generation."
