Chantal is one of my favorite clients. And she’s a first-time homebuyer. She’s a single parent raising two kids, taking care of her mother, same thing that my mother did when she migrated from Haiti to Brooklyn.

On screen:

Old photos show Ennell's mother as a young woman, and Ennell as a child with his siblings. In a later photo, Ennell and his sisters wear face coverings as they pose with their mom by a retro car.

Ennell Esperance:

So growing up, I knew the struggles that my mother would go through in terms of trying to provide just a better life for me and my sisters.

Ennell Esperance:

When I sat down with Chantel, we uncovered she was eligible to get a $100,000 grant that New York City offers. She was also eligible for our $5,000 Chase Homebuyer Grant that we were able to combine together to put towards her down payment and closing costs.

A photo shows Ennell smiling at a table with Chantal and Mr. Gregory, as a pen tops a closed file of paperwork.

Chantal Legagneur:

I couldn’t believe I was going to get that. But Mr. Ennell did it.

Ennell Esperance:

Me being someone who’s really invested in the community, I make it my duty to find out about these programs and make sure that everyone knows and can achieve the dream that they want to.
