Narrator:
Overdraft Protection is an option that can help you avoid overdrafts and is available with most of our checking accounts.
On screen:
In an animation, a line appears between a 'Checking' icon, and a 'Savings' icon.
Narrator:
If you have a Chase savings account, you can enroll in Overdraft Protection and link your Chase savings account as a backup to your Chase checking account.
On screen:
A red bar appears below the 'Checking' icon. As dollar signs drift in from the 'Savings' account, the red bar grows smaller, then disappears.
Narrator:
Then, if you don’t have enough money in your checking account to cover a purchase, Overdraft Protection transfers the exact amount from your linked savings account needed to cover the overdraft transaction.
On screen:
Text appears in a circle with a line through it: 'No transfer cost.' Beside it, a phone screen with a Chase Savings Account heading displays 'Checking' and 'Savings' icons with a line connecting them, and text: 'Accounts linked.'
Narrator:
It kicks in automatically with no transfer cost if you already have enough money in your linked savings account.
On screen:
A green check mark appears above a shopping basket.
Narrator:
This way, your transaction will be approved. As a result, you may be able to avoid bounced checks or declined purchases at checkout.
On screen:
A check bounces past, and a sign beside a debit card reads: 'Declined.' Then, text appears in a circle with a line through it:
On screen:
'No $34 Overdraft Fee.'
Narrator:
Plus you will not be charged a $34 Overdraft Fee for the transactions covered by Overdraft Protection.
On screen:
A username and encrypted password are typed into an animated phone displaying a Chase sign-in screen.
Narrator:
Now that you know how our Overdraft Protection works, check out some of our additional tools in the Chase Mobile app or chase.com to set up account alerts to help keep tabs on your balance and quickly transfer funds when needed.
On screen:
The phone screen shows Account Alerts, and a figure in silhouette. A question mark and money symbol appear above the silhouette, and an animated banker slides in.
