We are participating in the federal government's Home Affordable Unemployment Program (HAUP). This program offers extra help for homeowners who are struggling to make their monthly mortgage payments because they're out of work.
Temporary relief while you're unemployed
The program offers unemployed homeowners temporary financial relief by reducing their monthly mortgage payments while they look for a new job. This temporary mortgage relief is called forbearance.
Here's how the program works:
- Your monthly payments will be reduced.
- It typically lasts 12 months or until you have a new job, or you notify us you are no longer seeking employment.
- Thirty days before the forbearance period ends, we'll review your loan to see if you're eligible for an extension or if you can transition to the Home Affordable Modification Program. If you don't qualify, we'll continue to work with you to see if there are other options that may help you avoid foreclosure.
- The Home Affordable Unemployment Program has specific eligibility criteria established by the U.S. government. Call us at 1-866-550-5705 and complete and send your application for mortgage assistance. We'll help you find out if you are eligible for this program, as well as other options you are eligible for and the next steps to take.
